Erected in 1983, the tower's removal marks the dawn of a new chapter for the facility.

Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park, one of NHRA's two owned tracks alongside Gainesville Raceway, has been a hub for numerous successful events, drawing drag-and-drive enthusiasts from various communities. Hosting events like Hot Rod Drag Week and the Midwest Drags, Indy continues to hold a significant place in the racing calendar.


Established in 1960, the track hosted the inaugural NHRA U.S. Nationals in 1961, solidifying its status as the "grand-daddy" of NHRA national events. The acquisition of the facility by NHRA in 1979 led to significant improvements, with the removal of the four-story Parks tower, named after NHRA founder Wally Parks, being a notable development.
